Sorry to be so late in checking in with you this Saturday. I had some serious sleeping in to take care of and then an artery-hardening late breakfast with the husband. Plus a shower and some lounging around. THEN it was time to gather up some material for the post:
Sexy Saturday Salutes Willie Dixon's "I Just Want To Make Love To You."
Here at Sexy Saturday Headquarters we just love this song. Willie Dixon wrote this classic in 1954 and Muddy Waters recorded it. Immediately afterwards, everybody else recorded it. I have no real explanation why I have no version by Willie himself, but I hope to in part redeem myself with this selection of covers.
- cook my bread,
- make my bed,
- be no slave,
- work all day,
- be sad and blue,
- wash my clothes,
- keep a home,
- be true,
- etc.
(I don't want your money too.)
I just wanna make love to you.
However, when I listen to this song I am reminded just how sexy a little housework can be on a man.
The magic word today is "SQUEEZE." So you know what to do. When anybody says "squeeze" ...
The Who 's "Squeeze Box" (1975)

The use of vulvular massage as a therapy for "hysterical" patients dates back to Hippocrates. During the 19th century, it caught on as a treatment for the rampantly diagnosed afflictions hysteria and neurasthenia. The doctor of Alice James, the sickly sister of the famous Henry and William, probably brought her routinely to "hysterical paroxysm."
For Pleasure: A history of the vibrator.
I was about to cancel Sexy Saturday this week for lack of interest. I'm just really NOT in the mood.
So instead of funky grinding tunes, today we will adopt a more academic approach to the sexiest day of the week: A salute to Dr. Kinsey.
Alfred C. Kinsey (1894-1956) initiated a study of human sexuality at the University of Indiana in 1938 that grew into the first comprehensive survey published on the sex habits of Americans. Depending on who you ask he either set us free or set us up for EPIC FAIL.
If you want to read up on Kinsey, I would suggest James H. Jones' Kinsey: A Life
(2004). As this is Jones' second book on Kinsey, he's had a long while to
examine the documents, weigh all the angles, and apply some
historical perspective. He exhibits a balanced and seasoned approach
which reveals both Kinsey's weaknesses and mistakes as well as his
vision and contributions. The subject emerges as too flawed to be a hero, but
far short of the villain as others have painted him.
It's been a while since I read it but I also enjoyed T. C. Boyle's fictionalized account of the life of Alfred and Clara "Mac" Kinsey and those around them, Inner Circle.
Inner Circle as well as Jones book came out in 2004, the same year as the feature film Kinsey starring Laim Neeson. A year later PBS put out their documentary film, which is also well worth a view.
If you don't want to invest that much time, you might click over to Box Turtle Bulletin to read a pretty rational examination of "The Report."
And, because that is the way I roll, here are the goofy songs to accompany.
I'm going to take a break from the blues and devote this Sexy Saturday to critters.
Consider the humble shrew in his quest to mate...
Shrews are from the
Soricomorpha Order and muskrats are from the Rodentia, but I challenge you to find a love song about a soricomorph.
Also, this is not the correct album art (I don't think) but it's just so damn hot I had to use it.
I am not exactly sure what this song "means" but I'm pretty sure it is appropriate for Sexy Saturday. I find "Niki Hoeky" both perplexing and titillating.
For your consideration:
Anybody want to weigh in on that?Said, golly, golly miss Molly
Everything's copesetic now
Boog-a-boo, look at you
What I'd like to do to you boy
Ooh boog-a-boo you
You ooh boog-a-boo you, little boy
Get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
